30000 Lenovo A7000 mobiles sold in under 4 seconds!

Though there is a love hate relationship between Flipkart buyers and this flash sales model, it is definitely proving out to be beneficial to the mobile manufacturers. They get to choose the stock volume and time of sale. What else does a business need? Well, it was the same story all over again today. Only that I got to witness the magic as it happened right from the Lion’s den, Flipkart office in Bangalore.

Lenovo announced its A7000 model last week and it went on sale today at 2PM. There were more than 2.5 lakh people registered for this sale and 30000 units were up for sale. As were being briefed about the Flash sales model at Flipkart office, I kept glancing at the timer countdown and at exactly 2PM, when the sale began and before I could blink, I saw the screen saying “Out of Stock”.

Later Lenovo told us that 30000 units were sold in 4 seconds and we were seeing the dashboard from Flipkart. Watching the traffic spike up at that time and monitoring the number of units that were being checked out of the cart was an experience of its own kind.

Flipkart has actually done extensive survey to identify the best time and day of the week for the sale. A day from mid of the week and 2PM was chosen from the survey. The next sale of A7000 will be on April 22, 2015. The registrations for the next sale will start on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 6 p.m.

Just to recap, the Lenovo A7000  is a 4G enabled mobile with a 64-Bit 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 (MediaTek MT6752m) True Octa-Core processor and 2GB DDR3 RAM. It has a large 5.5 inch display and is powerd by a 2900 mAh battery. The highlight of this mobile is the Dolby® Atmos™ technology for Digital Signal processing (DSP). It is thin at 7.9 mm and very light weighing 140 grams. It has 8 GB of internal storage, 8Mp rear camera and a 5MP front camera. Priced at Rs 8999, the Lenovo A7000 is selling like hot cakes.
