At Computex 2016 in Taipei, Asus unveiled the next generation ZenFone mobiles. ZenFone series of mobiles have been a huge success story for Asus, across the globe. Though ZenFone had “Value for money” as its proposition, it was lacking the “next generation features” so far. But with the launch of ZenFone 3 lineup, the ZenFone gets a host of creative and first-to-market features.
ZenFone 3 Deluxe
Let me start with my favorite ZenFone 3: The ZenFone 3 Deluxe. The ZenFone 3 Deluze comes with a 5.7 inch AMOLED display with support for Full HD resolution. It has a 1.3 mm bezel and that, I believe would cut the overall size of the mobile, though it has a large display. It has a full metal body design and the edges are just 4.2 mm thin. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapgragon 820 processor with Adreno 530 GPU. It has 6 GB of RAM of 128 GB of internal storage. The rear camera has a 23 MP Sony IMX318 sensor with a f/2.0 lens. It also have 4 axis optical image stabilization and 3 axis electronic image stabilization. The ZenFone 3 Deluxe has TriTech autofocus system which functions to select either phase detection auto-focus or laser auto-focus, based on the situation. It can also continually focus on moving subjects. The ZenFone 3 Deluxe finally comes with a fingerprint sensor, placed at the rear. It has USB C type port and Quick Charge 3.0. It is priced at $499.
The ZenFone 3 is a design centric device. It has a 5.5 inch IPS Full HD display. The mobile has front and back glass construction with 2.5D curves at the edges. It has already won the design and innovation award at the Computex. ZenFone 3 has 16 MP camera with TriTech autofocus. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with 4 GB of RAM. It has a fingerprint scanner at the back. It is priced at $249.
ZenFone 3 Ultra
The ZenFone 3 Ultra is the largest phablet in this series. It has a whooping 6.8 inch Full HD display. The Ultra is a media centric device that is poised to give you the best of audio-visual experience. With Asus’ proprietory True2Life+ video technology, the Ultra can process 4K content to be displayed on the screen. It has 2 powerful five magnet stereo speaker system for the best audio experience on a mobile speaker. The experience gets better with headphones as the signal processor is DTS Headphone X compliant and users can enjoy 7.1 channel surround sound. It has a large 4600 mAh battery and Quick Charge 3.0 technology. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor with Adreno 510 graphics and will come in multiple RAM variants, having upto 4GB. It has a 23 MP camera like the Deluxe coupled with TriTech autofocus system. It is priced at $479.
I have been closely following the ZenFone lineup and I must say that Asus has nailed it this year. These mobiles offers truly innovative features and most of the features like TriTech autofocus, Tru2Life+ video are first to market. The pricing of the mobiles are very sensible. I would love to see these mobile land in India soon.
