Probably for the first time, a smartphone is priced lesser in India than in the US. The Nextbit Robin is priced at Rs 19999 in India and its a killer price. Robin is available for $399 (~27000 INR)in US. It got a temporary price cut in the US, earlier this month and it was priced at $299 (~ 20000 INR). Now it has gone back to $399 in Amazon. During the Kickstarter campaign, it was priced at $299 and I am happy that India gets the Kickstarter price.
If you have been living under a rock and haven’t heard about the Nextbit Robin, here is a brief introduction. Co-founded by Tim Moss, Nexbit is a startup based out of San Francisco. They have launched their first mobile, Robin, as a kickstarter campaign and it was a roaring success. It managed to raise $1,362,343 USD with 3,611 backers.
Here are some of the key highlights of the Nexbit Robin
- 5.2 inch screen – Perfect size to hold
- Gorilla Glass 4 – best protection for display out there
- 13 Mp rear and 5 MP front camera
- Dual Speakers on the front
- Fingerprint sensor on the side
- Snapdragon 808 processor
- USB Type C
- 3 GB RAM
- 32 GB Internal memory
- 100 GB of cloud storage (Extendable, based on usage)
- Running on Android 6.0.1 out of the box
- Available in 2 color – Mint Green and Midnight Grey
The design and choice of colors is attractive for sure. It has a never-seen-before design and gives a bold design presence. Cloud backup and storage is another unique selling point for Robin. It can backup all your photos to the 100 GB storage. If an app is not used for some time, the apk is backed up on the cloud and the application is archived on your Robin. The app data stays on the mobile. Whenever you want to use the app again, the apk can be restored from the cloud.
I will write a detailed review of the Nextbit Robin when I get access to it. But as of now I can say that its a great choice, if you are considering to buy it. The pricing and specifications are one of the best available in the market right now. It will be available on Flipkart from May 30th.
