Nokia X – Comparing the X, X+ and XL

Its official. Nokia X series is launched in India. For a starter, the Nokia X will now be available all over the country by end of this week. It is already available in stores across Bangalore. It is priced at Rs 8599. The Nokia X is the first in the X Series lineup. Let us compare the entire range that was announced in MWC last month.

The Nokia X series mobiles runs on heavily customized Android Jelly bean OS. It looks nothing like the Android mobiles that we have seen in the past. Nokia X, X+ and XL are the 3 mobile models that we launched in the X series. All three models sport Nokia’s iconic design language that we have seen in the Asha series. They have the polycarbonate plastic body with 6 color variants. They are all powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon dual-core processor running at 1GHz. They all have 4GB of internal memory with storage space expandable upto 32GB with the micro SD cards. Dual SIM of these models have been launched in India. All three models are not officially endorsed by Google. They don’t the Google services running on them, which translate to no offical Google Play store. But then you can always manually install .apk files to run your favorite Android apps in Nokia X devices. This is called side-loading. However we have not tested it and it is not recommended by Nokia, in doing so. Apps for the Nokia X mobiles are available officially in the Nokia Store and the Yandex app Store.

In terms of differences, the Nokia XL has the biggest screen size. It has 5 inch display while the X and X+ have 4 inch display. The Nokia X+ and XL have 768 MB of RAM while the Nokia X has just 512 MB of RAM. The XL has a 5 MP camera while the X and X+ have 3 megapixel rear camera. They also lack the front facing camera, while the XL has a 2 MP front facing camera. In the battery department, again the XL has the biggest battery of all. It has 2000 mAh battery while the X and X+ have 1500 mAh battery.

Check out the chart below to quickly compare the X range of Nokia Mobiles. Tell us about your thoughts and which mobile is your favorite is among them. My personal favorite is the Nokia XL.
