OnePlus, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer on Monday announced that it has partnered with Foxconn to assemble its phones at SriCity, Andhra Pradesh. The first batch of ” Made in India” phones will be commercially available by the end of 2015. Foxconn will make the Oneplus new devices in its 30,000 sq. ft facility. This will result in employment of 1000 full time workers. It is also said the facility will produce upto 5,00,000 units per month.
Indian market is one of the fastest growing smartphone market in the world. The Oneplus has sold more than 3,00,000 in India in the past year. The Chinese company is eyeing a share of Indian smartphone market by support from Make-in-India initiative. First Samsung, then Xiaomi, followed by Lenovo, Asus and recently Gionee, the “Make in India” Campaign is gaining momentum.
