After all those rumors, the news about the Sony Xperia Z5 is now official. At the IFA in Berlin yesterday, Sony unveiled the Z5 variants. There are three variants of the Z5: The Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 compact and finally the Xperia Z5 premium with 4K display. All these models have a new 23 MP 1/2.3 Exmor RS™ camera sensor. Sony claims that these sensors can focus and capture shots at 0.03 sec speed. They have lens with maximum aperture of f/2.0. The camera features optical image stabilization and promises great low light shots. It has a flush form factor with metal frame along the edges and glass back. The Z5 series are also waterproof like the other Xperia Z series. It will be available in White, Graphite Black, Gold and Green colors. The Z5 series has fingerprint scanner integrated with the power button on the side. The Xperia Z5 series are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. I hope they have solved the heating issues that plagued the Z3. The Z5 compact has all the powers of the Z5, but the screen size is 4.6″ for those who prefer smaller devices. These devices come with Qualcomm® Quick Charge™ 2.0 enabled.
The Xperia Z5 Premium is the world’s first 4K smartphone. We know that Sony is the market leader in camera sensor and display technology. So if a 4K mobile has to come, it better from from the pioneer. All these mobiles promises 2 days of battery life. Such a promise from a device with 4K display looks highly ambitious. The Z5 series are equiped with DSEE HXTM technology to upscale your audio and give a superior music experience. They ship with Sony headset MDR NC750 which promises superior audio quality with digital noise cancelling.
Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact be available globally from October 2015 while the Xperia Z5 Premium will start shipping from November 2015.
